Strength,
Focus, Endurance and Flexibility Strength,
focus, endurance and flexibility are all great physical and mental
attributes to keep our bodies and minds functioning at their best.
These qualities are all necessary in finding a job.
Over the years of working with customers / clients, those who
have these qualities are the ones who get jobs quickly. Strength:
In order to find a job you have to want a job real badly and believe
that you deserve one. You
have to believe that there is someone out there wanting you and that
your job is to find them and convince them you are what they are looking
for. Notice I did not say
they are going discover you. Keep
saying "today is the day I am going to find them." Being positive is extremely important, take one day at a
time. Focus:
If there is one thing that
will divert you from your job search it is not spending most of your
time on the job of finding a job. It
is amazing how I will hear from clients that they have all sorts of
activities to do except getting on the phone and the computer or out in
an interview. It seems that
we don't know how we ever got things done when we were working.
When you are no longer working, make it your full time job,
finding a job. It is not the time to take a vacation or to do the paint job
and cleaning you have been putting off for so long. A good rule of thumb is that the longer you are unemployed
the less you will be offered pay wise. Endurance:
Sticking to it and never giving up.
Remember you need lots of "no's" before you get a YES.
I met a man who got 33 rejections before he got the job of his
dreams. On a sheet of paper
write job at the top and 2 to 33 down from that, like a thermometer.
Every time you get rejected, cross off the bottom number.
Say to yourself "now I only need 32 more rejections to get a
job. I am closer now then I
was before." The more
rejections you get the faster you get the job. Remember we reap what we sow. Flexibility:
The more flexible a person
is, the faster they will get a job.
For every rule that you have about what you are willing to take
in a job, start adding time. It
starts with money, if you have lots of time then hold out for the money.
If you are short on time be flexible.
Remember it is not where you start but were you can go in the
future that matters. If you
have lots of rules on how far you will travel or move then add more time
to your search. Rules about
the type of company or job add more time.
I am not suggesting that you take anything that comes up but
think in terms of how much time you have.
